The School
of Music in the College of Music and Performing Arts at Belmont University is
seeking applications for a non-tenure track Instructor/Professor of Practice of
Musical Theatre, beginning August 1, 2027.

The
primary responsibilities for this position include collaborating (as Music
Director) in preparing a
cohesive, artistic and stylistic vision for mainstage musical productions, including accompanying all
rehearsals, teaching harmonies, vocal arrangements, ensemble numbers, assist
the creative team during auditions and callbacks to assess the vocal
capabilities and ranges of student performers, conduct and/or play piano for
the pit orchestra, oversee key milestones like sitzprobe and
liaison with sound designer and sound engineer to create mic
plots and notate scripts. Additional responsibilities teaching an
applied voice studio for musical theatre students. Other courses and
responsibilities may be included based on candidate’s background and area of
expertise. An annual teaching load would include a combination of applied
lessons and other coursework as needed to total a 24-hour teaching workload.
Additional primary responsibilities include academic advising, maintaining
scholarly/creative endeavors, and department, college, and university service.
Candidates will be engaging teacher-artists with expertise in current practice
in pedagogical principles, performance practice, and current best practice in
the field. In addition, the successful applicant will enjoy working in a campus
climate that promotes a Christ-centered environment and collegial atmosphere. A
masters degree in voice, musical theatre, or related field is required; previous
teaching at the collegiate level is preferred.

The School of Music in the College of Music and Performing Arts at

**Required Education**A masters degree in voice, musical theatre, or related field is required.
