Job description:

This is a temporary, one-week position during our six-day summer camp.

Job Type: Temporary (1 week)

Camp Dates: July 27 – August 1

Estimated Hours: 12-15 hours total

Compensation: $40 per hour stipend

Location: Sacramento, CA

Overview:

Our instrumental Instructors will lead skill-based jazz instruction for girls ages 8–18 in a supportive, collaborative ensemble setting.

We are currently hiring a bass + guitar instructor for camp.

Program Components

Jazz Instruction & Ensemble Training:

Beginners may focus on:

-Reading music and rhythmic literacy

-Proper posture and instrument care

-Basic technique and tone production

-Building confidence through group practice

Intermediate students may focus on:

-Improvisation and solo development

-Tone refinement and stylistic interpretation

-Intermediate repertoire and arrangements

-Leadership within small ensembles

Instruction includes combo rehearsals that prepare students for the final camp performance.

Responsibilities

Provide engaging, age-appropriate instrumental instruction

Lead combo rehearsals

Create a supportive, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment

Preferred Qualifications

Professional experience as a musician and performer

Prior teaching experience (private lessons, classroom, or ensemble)

Strong understanding of jazz improvisation and ensemble dynamics

Expertise in guitar and bass instruction, with the ability to teach students of varied skill levels

Strong foundation in Music Theory and Music Education
