Key Responsibilities Conceptualize and create original orchestral arrangements for a diverse range of projects, including stage productions, concert series, and special events. Adapt existing musical scores for different ensemble sizes and instrumentation, ensuring clarity, balance, and artistic integrity. Collaborate closely with composers, conductors, directors, and performers to interpret musical visions and achieve desired artistic outcomes. Conduct readings and rehearsals of new arrangements, providing constructive feedback and making necessary revisions. Maintain an extensive library of scores and parts, ensuring accuracy and proper organization. Stay abreast of current trends and innovations in orchestral music and arranging techniques. Mentor junior arrangers and provide guidance on best practices in orchestration and score preparation. Prepare high-quality, professional-looking scores and individual parts for all instrumental sections. Requirements Master's degree in Music Composition, Orchestration, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience. Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in orchestral arranging, with a strong portfolio showcasing diverse projects. Advanced proficiency in music notation software (e.g., Sibelius, Finale, Dorico). Deep knowledge of music theory, harmony, counterpoint, and orchestral conducting principles. Exceptional ear for instrumental color, balance, and blend within an orchestral setting. Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced creative environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate musical ideas effectively. Demonstrated experience working within the Jacksonville, Florida arts community is a plus.
