Unitarian Universalist Church of the Desert Lead Pianist Job Posting The Unitarian Universalist Church of the Desert (UUCOD) in Rancho Mirage is seeking applicants for Lead Pianist to begin work in the fall of 2022. Job Title: Lead Pianist Reports to: Lead Minister Status: Part-time, non-exempt (see below for details) Salary: $125 per Sunday Service; $75 per Choir Rehearsal Lead Pianist Job Description The Church Pianist is an integral part of fulfilling the mission of UUCOD (“mission) by providing piano accompaniment for scheduled worship services and other activities in support of the music ministry of the church. Having a pivotal role in the musical life of the church, this individual is a strong team player, working under the direction of the Lead Minister and Choir Director. Expectation of attendance is for Sunday worship services (2-3 Sundays per month), rehearsals with the choir (weekly on Wednesday evenings from September through June) and other special services, including (but not limited to) Christmas Eve. • Ability to sight read music as well as chord charts and lead sheets • Willingness to rehearse sufficiently to maintain a high quality of music Personal Qualities • Ability to collaborate effectively with a variety of people, including ministers, worship team members, music volunteers, and both congregational and community musicians • Ability to take direction and work as a team member • Support for Unitarian Universalist values • An understanding of diverse musical traditions and the ability to perform them • Ability to communicate well and in a friendly manner with the church leadership, church choir, and members of the congregation • A commitment to music as an expression of our human reality and as a vital and integrated part of our worship experience.
