Liturgical Musician (Cantor)

Overview:** The Liturgical Musician (Cantor) plays a vital role in leading congregational singing at St. Joseph Cathedral, a Catholic parish in the Catholic Diocese of San Diego. As a part-time, regular employee, the Cantor will work collaboratively with the Director of Music and other music ministers to create a dynamic and inspiring music ministry program that supports the parish's worship... community. **Responsibilities:** • Lead congregational singing at assigned masses and other liturgical services • Assist and sing as assigned by the Director of Music • Be available to serve as cantor for weddings and funerals celebrated at the parish, as needed • Be available for masses during Christmas and throughout Easter triduum • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Music • *Qualifications:** • Strong proficiency in vocal technique and performance • Ability to guide the congregation in prayerful participation in the liturgy • Sight-reading ability required • Possess excellent people and communication skills • Ability to follow and take direction from the Director of Music • Thorough knowledge and familiarity with liturgical practice of the Roman Catholic Church • General familiarity with Roman Catholic liturgical theology • *Benefits:** • Competitive pay rate of $90 per mass, with additional stipend for weddings and funerals • Opportunity to work in a dynamic and inspiring worship community • Collaborative and supportive work environment • St. Joseph Cathedral is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace and is an equal opportunity employer
