Multi-Instrumentalist / Youth Band Coach & Private Lesson Instructor The Rockademy – Solana Beach, CA The Rockademy is seeking an energetic, experienced multi-instrumentalist to coach youth rock bands and teach private music lessons. We’re looking for a working musician and strong teacher who can connect with young musicians, keep rehearsals productive and fun, and help students develop the skills and confidence to perform live.
Responsibilities
Coach youth rock/pop bands in weekly rehearsals
Teach students how to rehearse and perform effectively as a group
Help bands learn and arrange songs appropriate to their abilities
Prepare students for live performances
Teach private, one-on-one music lessons
Work with students ranging from beginners to more advanced players
Encourage musicianship, creativity, stage presence, and teamwork
Communicate professionally with students, parents, and Rockademy staff
Maintain a positive, organized, and encouraging teaching environment
Ideal Candidate
Proficient on multiple instruments, ideally including guitar, bass, drums, piano/keys, and/or vocals
Strong understanding of rock, pop, alternative, punk, and contemporary music
Experience performing in bands
Previous teaching, coaching, or youth mentoring experience preferred
Comfortable working with children and teenagers
Able to lead a full-band rehearsal and troubleshoot different instrumental parts
Dependable, punctual, enthusiastic, and professional
Able to balance structured instruction with a fun, creative atmosphere
What Makes This Position Different
This is more than a traditional private-lesson teaching position. The instructor will have the opportunity to work with students individually and coach them in real bands, helping them take what they learn in lessons and apply it on stage.
The right instructor should be someone who enjoys developing young musicians and understands that playing music is about more than technique—it’s about listening, collaborating, performing, and having fun making music with other people.
