Music accompanist
Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts (VCUarts) Department of Music is looking to hire trained accompanists. The accompanist's responsibilities may include assisting with the Voice masterclass, accompanying the voice through applied lessons, auditions, and juries, and accompanying a choir. The Voice masterclass meets from 12:30 to 1:20 on Thursdays.

Accompanists are expected to be thoughtful and proactive members of the Music community and have a desire to work with students from varied backgrounds in a collaborative, welcoming, and learning-centered collective.
Primary Responsibilities
● Provide collaborative piano support during private studio lessons, studio classes, choirs and
various recital performances. Willingness to participate in end-of-semester juries as needed.
● Ability to participate in performance auditions for prospective music majors and assist with
recruitment efforts as needed.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Music or equivalent experience One (1) year of experience playing for music courses at the collegiate, professional, or pre-professional level; or equivalent in related training, education, and/or experience. Demonstrated strong oral presentation and communication skillsDemonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU
Preferred Qualifications
● Master’s degree and/or equivalent education, training, and professional experience that equates to a master's degree in collaborative piano or piano performance.
● Experience accompanying applied lessons from beginner to advanced levels.
