Band of the Day app is looking for a talented and passionate music curator and content manager, based in the SF Bay Area (relocation support is not possible at this time), to manage the editorial calendar of the award-winning Band of the Day music discovery app. The ideal candidate is highly-organized, detail-oriented, personable, and is someone who obsessively thinks about music. Responsibilities Include: • Identifying new bands to feature in the app, across multiple genres and from all over the world, to keep a fresh influx of daily content • Curating a varied calendar of featured bands • Writing editorial content (within the app and on social media outlets) • Working closely with artist managers, labels, and publicists to license content, gather assets, and plan cross-promotional features • Photoshopping assets to fit specs of app • Entering content into CMS • Answering customer support emails • Managing all social networks, including writing daily posts and interacting with bands and users • Collaborating with designers and developers as needed • Testing content and troubleshooting bugs before content is live to our users • Booking talent for company events Qualifications: • 2+ years working in the music industry, with a strong rolodex of contacts (record labels, artist managers, publicists, bands) • 2+ years of editorial experience (i.e. music journalist, blogger, copy editor, social media manager) • Proficient with: Photoshop, Tumblr, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Dropbox, GoogleDocs • Ability to adapt editorial voice to each social media platform • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a startup atmosphere. Sense of humor and flexibility is very important (our HR department is a dolphin hand puppet…) • Willingness to take on tasks outside of this role, as needed • Impeccable taste in music
