Music Director

Church: St. Paul's By-the-Sea St. Paul’s by the Sea Episcopal Church in Jacksonville Beach, Florida, seeks a part time Director of Music. Required additional services: Holy Week, Christmas Eve, feast days and other special services • Collaborate with the rector in the planning of worship • Build upon the strong tradition of Anglican Choral music • Direct an all-volunteer choir augmented by choral scholars, handbell choir and other ensembles as required, including weekly rehearsal for each choir as needed (Fall – Day of Pentecost) • Hire choral scholars and singers for Proper Sundays and/or special services • Weddings & funerals principal organist with first right of refusal • Coordinate with Beaches Fine Arts (BFAS) and other community partners in the delivery of excellent musical programs • Prepare and monitor the music ministry budget; present an annual budget to the Finance Committee; present annual report at the Annual Parish Meeting • Manage independent contractor musicians and prepare monthly check requests for same • Serve as pastoral and spiritual presence to the choir This position is a part time position including Sunday services and Wednesday evening rehearsals. As a condition of employment, the successful candidate will undergo a criminal background check, complete the required Safe Church Training, and must strictly adhere to Episcopal Church Safe Church policies and guidelines.
