The Music Director should demonstrate a profound commitment to Jesus Christ, develop and lead an active, engaging music ministry that supports the mission and vision of CMPC through a comprehensive and diverse program of choral and instrumental music. Select and hire special soloists/ensembles, such as brass choir, as necessary. For unscheduled special services for which the Music Director is asked to provide music, the Music Director may negotiate a special fee with the parties involved to include weddings, funerals, and other private functions held at CMPC. Meet with the substitute as often as necessary to go over worship service. Skills and Qualifications • Acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior • Commitment to the mission and goals of CMPC • Proficiency on organ and piano • Experience and competency in directing choirs • Demonstrated knowledge of Presbyterian theology, liturgical practice, and use of musician worship • Demonstrated knowledge of and interest in a wide variety of musical styles and ability to program these styles appropriately in worship • Ability to collaborate with others and participate collegially with staff members, Pastors, congregational leaders, and volunteers • Ability and willingness to work the hours needed each week in rehearsal, worship services and preparation.
