Music Director

The Unitarian Universalist Church of Birmingham, Alabama, is seeking an Music Director for our congregation. The Church is looking for a person who can plan and execute our Music Program, centered around our 10:00 am Sunday service, and directing our choir during its performances and Wednesday evening practices. 5-10 hours per week; Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings are essential. • Schedules with the Office Administrator and shares music selections by mid-week for publication and licensing purposes • Familiarizes themselves with the music library and orders music as needed • Arranges/schedules special music performances as schedule and budget allow • Provides Bookkeeper with work hour totals on a monthly basis • Meets monthly with the Minister • Meets regularly with the Music Committee • Communicates regularly with choir members on upcoming performances, musical selections, and any change to the regular schedule • Recruits church members and friends, as well as outside performers, for needed choir sections • Ascertains and encourages musical gifts of the congregation • Connect with the UU Musicians Network for Professional Development opportunities People with a criminal record are encouraged to apply
