Overview: This position is responsible for music at all liturgical and non-liturgical celebrations; the training, development, and preparation of cantors, musicians and choir members; and all administrative functions associated with the position ... Job Responsibilities: • Select appropriate sacred music for all English Masses and celebrations • Assure parish celebrations have assigned organists, cantors, special musicians, and choirs, as appropriate • Promote and direct an adult choir to include weekly practices seasonally and special rehearsals as needed • Promote and facilitate a children's choir • Coordinate with Spanish Music Ministry and any other music groups to assure the best of liturgy • Provide music information for Church liturgies utilizing screens • Prepare music for liturgies in a timely manner to share with musicians • Adjust audio systems as necessary for optimum sound • Attend diocesan and deanery musician meetings and workshops, and collaborate with local music directors • Attend parish staff and Liturgy Committee meetings • Maintain a diversity of hymns and Mass settings appropriate to particular liturgies/congregations • Prepare and administer annual Music program budget • Maintain and update the music library • Manage music licensing and fees and professional organization memberships • Maintain all instruments and music equipment • Encourage strong assembly participation in a spirit of prayerfulness • Seasonally evaluate the music program and consult with the pastor on needed changes/adjustments Time Commitment: 38.5 hours per week and as necessary to cover weekend Masses, Holy Days, Triduum, Stations of the Cross, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Concert, Penance Services, First Communion, Confirmation, televised Mass tapings, missions, special events, choir rehearsals, meetings, and any additional commitments, as required by the pastor Qualifications/Expectations: • Master's Degree in Music preferred • Experience in a Catholic Church setting • Must be a practicing Catholic • Accomplished keyboard musician • Experience in choral conducting • Possess a pleasant and cheerful attitude of service to the parish community • Interact effectively with adults as well as children and their parents • Work well in a collaborative environment. • Openness to a variety of musical and liturgical styles. • Presence at high profile parish events • Basic computer skills • Personal maturity and flexibility, an appreciation for the path of discipleship, commitment to assisting the faithful to grow in understanding and appreciation for the Sacred Liturgy and sacred music
