Music Director

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Facilitates development, implementation, and evaluation of music programs.

· Provides leadership and support for all music staff and volunteers.

· Direction and planning of multiple music groups that meet on a weekly basis.

· Explores new and creative ideas while continuing to develop strengths in professional development opportunities for self and all key music ministry leaders.

· Collaborate with WTUMC staff in planning and participating in the music coordination for weekly and special services, i.e., weddings, funerals, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Easter Sunrise Service, and any other special events as needed.

· Responsible for effective oversight of music ministry budgets and maintenance of musical equipment in a spirit of good stewardship.

· Plan and lead yearly Christmas cantata concert in December.

· Actively participates in staff meetings and retreats.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

· Has had five or more years of experience leading/directing choirs and musicians.

· Strong abilities in working with people of all ages and with all levels of musical ability and possesses a distinct heart for ministry.

· Demonstrated proficiency with keyboard, piano and/or organ.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Creative thinker with ability to encourage lay participation in music and strategically

· match gifts and talents of others desiring to participate within the music ministry.

· Excellent attention to detail.

· Demonstrates willingness and effectiveness in working with teams.
