Music Director

Korean Presbyterian Church Of Fresno is hiring a Music Director (Fresno, CA) to be responsible for the following:

Plan, implement, and direct religious music for the church’s worship services.

Compose and coordinate music to be performed in worship services and church events.

Direct church choir, instruments, and orchestra in rehearsals and performances.

Use knowledge of music theory and performance to coordinate religious music and instruct choir and musicians.

Establish weekly and monthly music plans and schedules for the worship services, including Sunday worship services, Wednesday evening worship service, and Saturday early morning worship service.

Coordinate musical instruments including, but not limited to, piano and organ in religious worship services and events.

Confer with the Senior Pastor (the minister of the Word and Sacrament) and elders (the session) to select hymns and other religious music in accordance with the Word of God and sermon themes.

Plan and lead educational and practice sessions for choir and instruments.

Plan and implement annual music worship performances in accordance with the church’s established annual religious events, including but not limited to Christmas and Easter.

Confer with the Senior Pastor and elders to ensure the music ministry is continuously implemented as a part of proper worship to God.

Employer will accept a Master’s degree in Music, Music Performance or related and 2 years of experience in the job offered or in a Music Director-related occupation.

Position also requires 2 years of experience with:

1. Directing church music performance and coordinating rehearsals

2. Directing and playing hymns and traditional Christian music and songs

3. Music performance in Christian tradition

4. Establishing and directing Christian worship music

5. Composing music for performance

6. Playing piano and organ for the audience

7. Coordinating various musical instruments for performance

Position requires fluency in Korean.

Salary is $59,093 per year.
