The Music Director is responsible for leading the music during Lutheran (ELCA) liturgical worship. This includes regular consultation with the Pastor to review hymnody, anthems and related music to enhance the worship experience. Also included is leadership and direction for a small adult choir. Available instruments include a Yamaha baby grand piano and Yamaha electronic piano/organ in the nave of the sanctuary and an 8-rank Wicks pipe organ in the sanctuary balcony.DutiesWeekly staff meeting (can be done remotely if needed) to plan and coordinate with the pastor, music for 3 Sundays per month (1 Sunday per month is led by Joyful Noise), Possible to start with 2 Sundays per month and add more at a later date.Accompany all worship services for the congregation.One 9:30am service per week.Additional services during Holy Week, Advent, Christmas Eve, Thanksgiving.Schedule and direct 1 weekly adult choir rehearsal and singing during services (choir currently rehearses prior to the service on Sunday, but rehearsal time/day could be changed if needed).Recruit and facilitate participation from all age groups within the congregation.Accompany weddings and funerals (for an additional fee).Occasionally accompany soloists or children’s choir performing during services.Schedule and supervise maintenance of piano and organ.Use and maintain the church’s music library.Handle hiring of outside musicians if needed.Maintain competency in skills and show evidence of continued musical growth.Skills and Qualifications Experience in accompanying worship, preferably liturgical.Demonstrated skill and proficiency on piano, organ competency desirable.Music degree or AGO certification desirable.Experience in choral conducting.Familiarity with different styles of church music.Ability to work collegially with pastor and others.Ability to work with all age groups.#J-18808-Ljbffr
