Bethlehem Lutheran Church, a welcoming and faith-rooted congregation in Hickory, North Carolina, is seeking a passionate and skilled Music Director to enrich our worship life through organ, piano, and choir direction. This part-time role is ideal for musicians who find joy in liturgical music and collaborative ministry.
Position Details:
Average of 15 hours per week, with seasonal fluctuationAdditional compensation available for weddings, funerals, and other life eventsFlexibility to accommodate high holidays and church seasonsInstruments:

Provide music for Sunday services and seasonal worship (Advent, Lent, Christmas, etc.)Direct and rehearse the church choirCollaborate with the pastor to plan liturgy and musicMaintain musical instruments and the church’s music libraryUtilize worship planning tools such as Sundays & Seasons, Prelude, and CCLIProvide monthly updates to the church council and participate in ministry team discussionsArrange coverage during absences and coordinate with appropriate staffParticipate in periodic reviews to promote growth and collaborationRequirements:
Proficiency in both organ and piano performance; additional musical talents are welcomedUnderstanding of liturgical worship and church seasonsBachelor’s degree in music or equivalent experience preferredExperience directing choirs and collaborating in ministry settingsStrong communication and organizational skillsDedication to fostering an inclusive, joyful, and spiritually rich musical environmentBethlehem Lutheran Church is a community that cherishes worship, creativity, and connection.
