Music Director

Job Description posting for Director of Music: Cedar Hills United Church of Christ, Portland (CHUCC.org). hours per week We are a progressive west side Protestant congregation seeking a skilled enthusiastic music director/pianist to bring leadership and creativity to the musical life of the church. Music Director • Plan and develop worship music with the pastor and worship committee • Select choral and instrumental music affirming a wide variety of Christian, religious and other music • Oversee music library • Respect copyright requirements relative to music and technology • Invite and facilitate congregation growth in music appreciation and participation • Recruit and coordinate guest musicians and coordinate music for worship during the summer • Develop and monitor annual proposed musical budget • Attend worship committee and staff meetings • Responsible for instrument maintenance Qualifications: • Degree in music (preferred) with experience in choral directing and piano • Successful experience as a choir director or church musician • Broad knowledge of church music literature • Ability to play and arrange traditional hymns and songs in a variety of contemporary styles • Ability to gladly work as a part of a team with volunteers, staff and congregation
