Music Director

Planning and executing all music associated with worship, religious education, social ministry, and evangelization in the parishPerform liturgies as accompanist (organ/piano) and choir director per weekend or major feastCoordination and staffing of all other liturgies with competent musicians, utilizing other musicians as necessaryProvide music or make arrangements with other musicians for weddings and funeralsCoordinate all other musicians and ensure the quality of musical performance during Masses at with these people ministerCoordination of weekly music rehearsalsScheduling of Cantor rotationCollaborates with the Business Manager on preparation and implementation of the Music & Liturgy budgetsExecute management and effective utilization of a sound system in the churchServe as a resource on musical and liturgical matters in the parish, as well as provide catechesis to the parish at large on issues of corporate worship and musical celebrationAttend parish staff meetingsDesigning and printing special occasion worship aids as neededRecruit, arrange, and coordinate exceptional volunteer musicians for Christmas and Holy Week/Easter celebrationsEnsuring all copyright licensing and usage reporting to the major music publishersMaintain and expand the current Choral Music LibraryProvides a visible, accessible presence at parish events and demonstrates an interest and concern for the tastes and faith expressions of parishionersMaintains involvement in Diocesan and national networks/professional peer groupOther duties as assigned by PastorSupervisory While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to be present in the parish office and choir loft/section.
