The Music Director will ensure excellence in sacred music throughout the Diocese by training and forming pastoral musicians and serving as principal musician for diocesan liturgies. The ideal candidate has a master’s degree in organ or choral conducting, or a degree in sacred music, with years of experience in a cathedral or large parish, is a practicing Catholic, and has a thorough and demonstrable knowledge of Roman Catholic liturgical theology and praxis. An additional degree or certification in theology, liturgy, ministry or a related field is preferred. Bilingual in Spanish and English is an advantage. They should be highly skilled in the leadership of congregational singing, an accomplished choral conductor, proficient at the keyboard, formed for pastoral ministry, able to form and train other musicians, and willing to work harmoniously with a ministry team.
