The school is looking for an energetic, collaborative, creative individual who has enthusiasm for working with high school students and a commitment to the continued growth of a dynamic program. **Responsibilities:** * Hold the vision for the music program and lead the team of music teachers * Teach up to 6 music-related academic courses (2-3 per semester), such as Foundation Arts: Music, Chamber Ensemble, Chamber Singers, Advanced Musicianship and Music Theory * Teach up to 3 music- related Exploratory and/or Impact courses each quarter/semester * Teach one Intersession course * Vocal or music direct a musical every other school year in collaboration with the theater department * Manage the music budget and maintain the instrument inventory * Attend and contribute to arts department meetings * Lead the Sonoma Academy Tri-M Music Honor Society chapter * Support student musicians and vocalists in competitions * Support independent student music projects **Required Skills and Experiences:** * BA in a Music-related academic field * Minimum three years of experience teaching grades 9-12 (Music) or equivalent experience in a related field * Experience teaching instrument or choral * Passionate about teaching high school students; ability to maintain appropriate boundaries with teenagers, while simultaneously having fun and enjoying working with young people * Excited to develop original and innovative course offerings * Thinks creatively about pedagogy and assessment * Works collaboratively as a member of a connected community to deliver a range of programs, including Intersession, Advisory, Exploratory, Impact, and more * Experience and enthusiasm for working within a diverse community and a commitment to creating inclusive programming and activities; actively supports adolescent growth and well-being * Practices cultural competency in all aspects of school life * Capable of teaching both remotely and in-person * Flexibility, resilience, good humor **Desired Skills and Experiences:** * Advanced degree (MA, PhD, or equivalent) in a Music-related academic field * Experience teaching instrument and choral * Connect with the bay area community to bring in outside musicians and speakers * Experience in working with the latest music technology in their field such as Notation software: Sibelius, Noteflight, or Musecore and production recording software like Logic Pro X or Soundtrap. **Benefits of working at SA:** * Comprehensive benefits package, including 100% paid health, dental, and vision insurance for employees with several plan options to meet individuals’ specific needs * Generous retirement plan contribution of 7% of annual income * Commitment to professional development, including generously-funded training opportunities and a dedicated “exploratory fund” of $450 annually for learning opportunities unrelated to work * Healthy and nutritious lunch service offered at no cost to employees during the school year (when on campus and our kitchen operational) * A professional work environment defined by teamwork, collegiality, trust, agility, and altruism **Supervisory responsibilities:** This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities for employees.
