MUSIC DIRECTOR/KEYBOARDIST at Grace Meridian Hill Church Washington DC

The Music Director directs and oversees the music of Grace Meridian Hill church’s Sunday worship services, and works closely with the Lead Pastor. Grace Meridian Hill is a multicultural congregation in the heart of Washington, DC. Serve as primary point of contact to all band members and vocalists Set tone and vision for Music Team; maintain healthy, collaborative spiritual environment Meet with Lead Pastor to discuss music and logistics (every 2 weeks) Schedule musicians and vocalists using Planning Center online. Create arrangements and charts for any new music Plan to introduce new songs (1-2 songs per quarter), as well as seasonal songs, choir/small ensembles (e.g., Advent, Black History Month, Holy Week) Create instrumental tracks/recordings for new music as needed Rehearsals (as needed) Ability to play a variety of musical styles, especially contemporary gospel, jazz, traditional hymns at a professional level Previous experience (or equivalent) leading a band and music ministry of a local church Personal faith in Jesus Christ and a vision for music/worship consistent with the commitments of Grace Meridian Hill Formal training in piano/keyboard preferred; ability to lead congregational singing vocally a plus Ability (skill) and character (tone, style) to lead and instruct singers with no prior formal training Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills Familiarity with Planning Center Online a plus
