Role Description The Music Educator is a contract, on-site role based in Evanston, IL. This role involves planning and delivering engaging music lessons to students of varying ages and skill levels, with an emphasis on building strong technical skills and musical understanding. Day-to-day responsibilities include instructing in individual and group settings, preparing students for performances and evaluations, assessing progress, and providing constructive feedback. The Music Educator will collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, coordinate rehearsals and recitals, and maintain clear communication with students and caregivers. The role also includes maintaining accurate records of attendance and progress, and contributing to a positive, inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

Strong foundation in Music Theory and general Music knowledge.Proficiency in Music Performance, with experience performing in solo or ensemble settings.Demonstrated expertise in Music Education, including lesson planning and instructional methods.Ability to teach Piano and support students in developing piano technique and repertoire.Bachelor’s degree or higher in Music, Music Education, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).Prior teaching experience in a conservatory, school, or private studio setting.Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to inclusive, learner-centered teaching.Ability to manage classroom dynamics, motivate learners, and adapt instruction to diverse needs and backgrounds.Willingness to work on-site in Evanston, IL and to support evening or weekend performances as needed.
