This role is designed for an aspiring communications professional seeking to execute high-level media strategies and public engagement within the non-profit arts sector. You will be instrumental in expanding our media footprint through strategic storytelling and proactive relationship management.Primary ResponsibilitiesStrategic Media Outreach: Draft and distribute formal press releases and media advisories to regional news outlets, ensuring consistent messaging and brand alignment.On‑Site Media Execution: Facilitate professional "on‑the‑street" interviews and live event coverage to capture the narrative of our community initiatives and festivals.Public Advocacy: Represent the Society through public speaking engagements and community outreach, articulating our mission to diverse stakeholders and potential sponsors.Communications Strategy: Collaborate with the leadership team to synchronize PR efforts with broader organizational milestones and preservation projects.Event Coordination: Assist in the logistical PR planning for large‑scale community events, including managing media check‑ins and VIP press interactions.QualificationsWe are seeking a candidate who demonstrates a rigorous work ethic and a sophisticated understanding of the music industry’s operational landscape.Professional Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on public speaking and professional interview techniques.Industry Acumen: A documented interest in the music industry, music preservation, or non‑profit management.Technical Writing: Proficiency in drafting professional press releases, media kits, and formal organizational correspondence.Interpersonal Maturity: The ability to engage confidently with city officials, performers, and media representatives in professional settings.Institutional Alignment: Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program, preferably in Public Relations, Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or Music Business.Operational Flexibility: Ability to maintain a professional demeanor during outdoor events, parades, and live performances.What We Offer The Pennsylvania Music Preservation Society is committed to providing a substantive, career‑focused educational experience.
