Music Instructor - Little Wing and Rookies

Do you love music, creativity, and working with young children?

School of Rock is looking for an enthusiastic, engaging, and patient Instructor to lead our Little Wing (ages 4–5) and Rookies (ages 6–7) programs!

Our Little Wing and Rookies classes give kids their first taste of making music — exploring rhythm, melody, and teamwork through fun, imaginative, and hands-on activities. We use rock and roll instruments to help children reach developmental milestones, build confidence, and discover the joy of playing together.

At School of Rock, we teach five core instruments — keys, vocals, guitar, bass, and drums — and we love when instructors bring additional musical skills and creativity to the table.

What you'll be doing?

Foster a fun, safe, and inspiring environment where kids can explore and grow through music
Ensure students are learning fundamental concepts — not just songs, but rhythm, pitch, and collaboration
Create and document lesson plans that are thoughtful, structured, and engaging
Balance education with play, keeping classes interactive and age-appropriate

Customer Connection

Communicate regularly with parents about their child’s progress and musical milestones
Be visible and accessible in the school, connecting with families and building relationships
Support the team by assisting with rehearsals, events, and day-to-day school operations
Help with student recruitment and enrollment to keep the programs thriving

Skill Requirements

1+ years of experience teaching or performing music professionally
Passion for and/or experience working with children under 8 years old
Background in early childhood education, classroom instruction, or childcare preferred
Solid knowledge of basic music theory and popular genres (rock, pop, etc.)
Excellent communication and people skills — friendly, patient, and approachable
Organized, reliable, and a good problem-solver
Works well under pressure and thrives in a collaborative environment
Proficiency on at least one instrument (guitar, keys/piano, drums, or voice) — multi-instrumentalists encouraged!
Good judgment and professionalism are a must

Schedule

Part-time position, typically Monday–Thursday after 3pm, Saturdays between 10am-2pm.
