Music Leader

Position Summary Our congregation is seeking a skilled and collaborative Music and Choir Leader to lead our music ministry throughout the year. This position combines weekly instrumental accompaniment for Sunday services with directing and accompanying our choir during the program year. The ideal candidate is a versatile musician who can move fluidly between musical styles and enjoys building community through music. This position supports our congregation's commitment to living out our through worship and shared musical experience. Key Responsibilities Sunday Accompaniment - Provide piano/instrumental accompaniment for approximately 42 Sunday services per year - Collaborate with worship leaders to select and prepare music that supports the themes and flow of each service Choir Direction (10-Month Season) - Direct and accompany the congregational choir for a 10-month season (typically August - May) - Lead one weekly choir rehearsal throughout the season - Prepare the choir for approximately 7–10 performances during Sunday services over the course of the season - Select and arrange choir repertoire spanning a range of musical styles Collaboration - Work closely with the Worship & Arts Coordinator to plan music that aligns with worship themes and the congregation's mission - Attend a rehearsal with the Worship & Arts Coordinator, ideally scheduled before the Sunday service, to coordinate weekly music selections and logistics Qualifications - Strong piano/keyboard skills with the ability to accompany congregational singing, soloists, and choral ensembles - Comfort and versatility across multiple musical styles, including hymns, contemporary, gospel, rock, and other genres as needed - Choral conducting experience, with the ability to teach parts and prepare a volunteer choir for performance - Strong collaborative and communication skills - Availability for 1 weeknight choir rehearsal and Sunday services - Experience in a congregational or faith-community music setting preferred; familiarity with Unitarian Universalism a plus Compensation This is a part-time position with an annual salary of $10,425. *Interested candidates should submit a resume and a brief statement of interest to [email protected]* Pay: $10,425.00 per year Ability to Commute: - Fort Wayne, IN 46807 (Required) Work Location: In person
