The primary goal of the program is to use music as a vehicle for developing academic skills, social skills, and ultimately building self‑confidence and self‑esteem. The individual in this role is both an effective leader of the Music Clubhouse program and a key member of the BGCB staff.ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIESCommitment to Excellence in Curriculum and Program Development/Delivery, Behavior Management and SafetyTogether with Director of Operations and Executive Director, create/revise program curriculum with clearly defined activities and realistic, measurable outcomes.Lead weekly schedule of music instructional activities with small groups of youth, many with no previous musical experience.Create and implement regular showcase opportunities for Music Clubhouse youth and coach youth to perform with confidence.Identify core group of teens to serve as Music Clubhouse "All Stars" (members will receive advanced music and leadership training and serve as mentors to younger youth and peers).Secure, maintain and monitor budget, materials, equipment and other resources belonging to the program area(s). Maintain a safe and clean program area(s).Supervise and discipline members participating in programs and services within the program area as well as throughout the clubhouse as deemed appropriate.Program & supervise daily drop‑in times.Outreach/Engagement, Collaboration and Supervision/TrainingConduct outreach and recruitment within our programs and broader community throughout the year as necessary.Meet with participant parents and provide them with opportunities to learn more about the program.Coordinate volunteers and consultants who can offer related instruction, support and guidance to members.Participate in individual and group supervision sessions; participate in professional development opportunities as appropriate.With other youth development staff, integrate Music Clubhouse program and youth in annual signature events.Orient, train and supervise department staff (including work‑study students, junior staff, and volunteers). The organization encourages and requires that all staff participates in annual professional development opportunities that continue to cultivate their skills in the youth development field.Safe Spaces – Every staff member shares the responsibility for ensuring BGCB is, and remains, an environment free of sexual, physical, or emotional abuse.QUALIFICATIONSRequired3–5 years of developing and implementing programs for teenagersInvolvement with youth development programming in an urban settingFlexible and creative self‑starter – demonstrated ability to be entrepreneurial and work through obstacles.
