Musical Arts Leader

Conductor Position The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting weekly rehearsals and performances, as well as overseeing the selection of season repertoire and participating in musician screening processes. Key Responsibilities: • Conduct or oversee conducting of the Anchorage Youth Symphony and AYO's Symphony School ensembles • Select season repertoire for AYO ensembles • Participate in musician screening process and assist with matters relating to musician placement, seating, attendance, and parent inquiries • Oversee all artistic roles of AYO staff and supervise those areas of their duties • Engage in planning and discovery of artistic collaborations with other arts organizations • Maintain a high knowledge of standard orchestral repertoire Required Skills and Qualifications: • Degree pertinent to conducting and/or music education • Previous successful experience inspiring and leading advanced student musicians in a large ensemble setting • Experience in programming and curriculum design beneficial Others: • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States • AYO is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, creed, national origin, ancestry, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, military status, physical or mental disability, or any legally protected status
