Musical Church Services Position

The Musician/Church Pianist is responsible for creating a harmonious atmosphere in our parish services, including Sunday Vigil Mass and may be contracted to perform at weddings, funerals, and other liturgical events as necessary. The Musician/Cantor will be responsible for animating the Sunday Liturgy and providing the musical environment. Key Responsibilities: • Play the piano/organ for regular church services, including Sunday worship, midweek services, weddings, funerals, and special church events • Select appropriate music for each service in consultation with the minister or church leadership • Prepare and practice music in advance of services to ensure a high-quality performance • Accompany the church choir and soloists, and potentially leading choir rehearsals • Maintain the church piano/organ, tuning it regularly and arranging for professional repairs when needed • Coordinate with outside musicians for special services or events • Encourage the congregation's participation in the musical aspect of worship • Comply with all church policies and procedures, and respecting the sacred nature of the church environment Preferred Additional: • Bachelor's degree in Music, Liturgy and/or 2 prior years' experience • Previous experience/knowledge of Roman Catholic Liturgy including Lectionary and Sacramentary • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred This role requires strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups and individuals.
