Must be able to play a variety of music with a broad stylistic range and improvisatory flexibility.Piano and/or percussion are the traditional instruments for dance accompaniment, but any instrumentalist who meets the qualifications will be considered.For theatre accompaniment, must be able to read and play relatively difficult music by sight.Must be reliable and able to meet class, rehearsal, and performance schedules.Must be able to accompany in a wide range of sites for theatre and/or dance classes, as well as performances.Preferred: Experience accompanying dance and/or theatre classes and performances with a wide range of styles.Strong improvising skills and broad rhythmic and metric range.Ability to read music.About the Department Housed in a public research university located in a vibrant metropolitan area, the University of Minnesota Department of Theatre Arts & Dance is a collaborative hub for education, research and training in the diverse field of Dance and Theatre.
