This position is for a highly skilled musician who provides live acoustic music in public spaces throughout the University of Michigan Health System to create a calming, supportive environment for patients, families, visitors, and staff. In addition to providing live music, this position supports the Gifts of Art Music Program's audiovisual and other special initiatives as needed. Demonstrate musical proficiency on primary instrumentCollege degree in music on primary instrument or equivalent training and expertiseProficient in a wide range of musical styles and genresSkilled in improvisation on instrumentAbility to play seamlessly for extended periods of timeProvide own instrument, rig and transportationBe able to transport own instrument and accessory equipment throughout the hospitals without assistanceAbility to communicate appropriately with patients, visitors and staffUnderstand their music is of service rather than a performanceMinimum 2-year experience as a musician in a healthcare facilityKnowledge of and experience with audiovisual production tools and software Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department.
