Musician and Conductor Role

The Community Services Department of the City of Torrance is seeking a highly skilled music educator to join the Cultural Services Division. As an Instructor I, you will teach music classes and workshops for the Torrance Civic Chorale, helping individuals develop their musical talents and skills. This role requires advanced piano playing skills, knowledge of music theory, harmony, rhythm, composition, and transposition, as well as familiarity with popular, jazz, rock, musical theater, and classical music. The ideal candidate will also possess excellent sight reading skills, the ability to read chord charts, improvise solos and accompaniments, and memorize, improvise, adapt, and transpose music. You will work closely with the conductor and other team members to plan, review, and rehearse music for performances.
