Position: Musician Paid New Bass Player for The Laurie Berkner Band The Laurie Berkner Band Ancram, NY US[...] Location: New York New Bass Player for The Laurie Berkner BandThe Laurie Berkner Band is looking for a new bass player.The Laurie Berkner Band is a nationally touring children’s music band known for joyful, high-energy live performances for kids and families.We are looking for someone who is a strong musician and a great fit for the spirit of this popular band for young kids and their families. This role includes playing bass, singing harmony/background vocals, participating in movement/stage choreography, responding well to in-the-moment direction, and helping create a warm, joyful, kid-centered performance experience.Band members regularly wear/use props and minimal costume accessories (we will provide). We use wireless/headset microphones, in-ear monitors, and instruments. Beyond the live show, there may also be paid opportunities to record in-studio, be in music videos, photoshoots, and more. If it’s a strong mutual fit, there is potential for this to grow into an ongoing role within the band. Note: We sometimes book shows a year or more in advance.What we’re looking for:Excellent bass playing, rhythm, and musicianshipStrong tenor/baritone singer with the ability to harmonize and blend wellStrong stage presence and enthusiastic about being actively physical on stageGenuine interest in (and comfort with) performing for and interacting with children and familiesFlexibility and responsiveness to feedback in real timeConfident improvising or creating a bass part when neededGood scheduling availability and reliabilityCommitted, fully present, and excited to contribute as a member of the bandClear communication about conflicts and rehearsal availabilityBand Rehearsals in NYC – 1-2 per show date (there may be extra band and/or vocal rehearsals before your first show). We cover travel.Concerts – travel + show-day arrival ~3 hours before show time for soundcheck. Shows run 75-90 minutes. At this time, we are performing about 4-6 concert dates per year with the whole band.
