MUSICIANS-Organist and Pianist

The organist/pianist may also be asked to perform at weddings, funerals and other liturgical events as necessary. Perform music during Masses, including hymns, musical aspects of the Order of Mass, anthems, and special music. Provides musical support to a prayerful environment; fosters a rich musical presence within the parish.Provide accompaniment for the choir and cantors.Attend rehearsals with the choir.When necessary, assist the Coordinator of Music Ministry to plan music for Masses, liturgies and special services.Continuously maintains professional and liturgical education through reading, workshops, classes etc.Is available to perform at special events including weddings, funerals, concerts and other events as needed.Attend any Archdiocesan-required training, and/or meetings on Liturgy and Music. High School degree or equivalent.Proven experience as a church organist and pianist.Strong knowledge of sacred music.Basic understanding of music theory and the ability to improvise.Ability to sight-read music.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate well with others, especially church staff, and members of the music ministry, choir and parish.
