Organist

During certain times of the year additional hours may be necessary to meet the demands of the job. All church staff will be asked to support and serve for religious holidays and worship services including Christmas Eve and Easter. Job Responsibilities and Duties: • Serve as main Organist at the weekly Sunday services at 8:30 am, 9:30 am, & 11 am in the Sanctuary • Serve as accompanist for the Chancel Choir as needed and assigned • Play for seasonal church events as needed (Christmas Eve, Holy Week, concerts, special services, etc.) ), working directly with families when needed • Responsible for the instrument maintenance schedule of all instruments including both organs, all HPUMC pianos, and harpsichord • Serve as staff liaison to the carillonneurs in planning and scheduling for all Sunday services and weddings, funerals, and special services as needed. • Assist with responsibilities for music in Cox Chapel as needed • Oversee and approve the use of the Sanctuary and Cox Chapel for all scheduled events • Accompany as needed for David R Davidson Tower Arts concerts, as well as host guest pianists/ organists • Serve as main keyboardist for memorial services and weddings (often 2 to 3 weekly) for additional compensation (this is outside of the 36-hour work week)
