Part Time Church Music Director

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Part Time Church Music Director to provide provide leadership in selecting praise songs and hymns for our worship services and special church events. This position is responsible for leading and selecting music for a handbell and an adult singing choir. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the spiritual life of our congregation through inspiring music which is appropriate for a Progressive Protestant Community. The ideal candidate will have a passion for church music, a strong background in conducting, and experience with various church music styles.

Duties

Lead the choir and congregational singing during Sunday morning worship services and special events
Lead and rehearse the singing and handbell choirs on Wednesday evenings and Sunday morning praise band rehearsals before worship
Collaborate with the pastor, pianist, and other musicians to select appropriate music repertoire & hymns
Provide musical leadership for choir rehearsals and community gatherings as needed
Organizing musical aspects of church programs, including seasonal celebrations and outreach activities

Skills

Ability to play parts when needed for rehearsals
Experience with choral conducting
Strong sense of timing, pitch, and musical interpretation
Excellent collaboration skills to work effectively with church staff, choir members, and congregation members
Ability to read sheet music fluently and adapt quickly to new arrangements
A passion for church ministry through music and a commitment to enhancing worship experiences
Familiarity with progressive Protestant liturgy and customs

Pay: $9,000.00 - $11,000.00 per year
