Position Summary
The Music Therapist position will provide music therapy as a modality to relieve the physical, emotional, and spiritual suffering caused by advanced, life limiting conditions.
Essential Functions
• To assess patients who are referred to the music therapy program
• To devise therapeutic interventions consistent with patient strengths, culture and faith and designed to treat the identified problems
• To implement and evaluate the music treatment plan for efficacy by the music therapist and the members of the interdisciplinary team
• To document all music therapy interventions making reference to the patient’s physical status and observable, measurable outcomes of the music therapy interventions.
• To provide individual music therapy sessions
• To develop procedural support music therapy
• To provide family or group therapy sessions as indicated including bereavement and staff support
• To develop music libraries that can be available to patients, families, staff and volunteers
• To develop a music therapy training center

Qualifications

Knowledge and Critical Skills
Skilled at:
• Communicating and listening effectively
• Providing excellent end of life music therapy care and documentation in medical record
• Evaluating patient care and documentation
• Creative problem solving, efficient use of resources
• Ability to work with others in a positive and productive manner

Experience:
• Principles and practices of music therapy intervention
• Community Hospice program and philosophy

License / Certification
• Board Certification in Music Therapy
• Current State of residency driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to a Community Hospice of NE FL insurance carrier

Education
• Completion of undergraduate degree or equivalence in music therapy from an approved program
Other Requirements
• Maintains competency by participating in in-service and continuing educational programs.
• Attends, participates in internal staff development programs, obtains continuing education required by regulations
