Role Description The Percussion Instructor is responsible for providing individual and small-group lessons in drum set, concert percussion, and related instruments to students of varying ages and experience levels. Day-to-day tasks include planning and delivering structured lessons, assessing student progress, assigning practice material, and preparing students for recitals, auditions, and performances. The instructor will maintain clear communication with students and caregivers, contribute to a positive studio environment, and follow studio policies and scheduling procedures. This is a contract role, and the position is on-site at Fairfield County Music Studio in Shelton, CT.
Qualifications
Strong proficiency in Percussion Performance and Drums, with the ability to demonstrate proper technique and musicality.Experience with Drum Set and broader Music skills, including reading notation and understanding rhythm, dynamics, and style.Background in Music Education, with the ability to create age-appropriate lesson plans and adapt teaching methods to individual learning styles.Prior teaching or private lesson experience in a studio, school, or similar setting.Ability to work on-site in Shelton, CT and maintain reliable, punctual attendance for scheduled lessons.Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with a commitment to a respectful, inclusive learning environment.Degree in Music, Music Education, or equivalent professional experience is preferred.Willingness to collaborate with studio staff and participate in recitals or studio events as needed.
