The Music Note is seeking a dynamic Percussion Teacher to inspire students of all ages through the vibrant world of percussion instruments. Responsibilities
Design and implement comprehensive percussion curriculum tailored to various skill levels and age groups
Conduct engaging lessons that develop students’ technical skills, rhythm understanding, and musical expression
Foster a positive classroom environment that encourages participation, creativity, and confidence
Manage classroom behavior effectively to ensure a safe and respectful learning space
Prepare students for performances, recitals, or assessments by guiding practice routines and providing constructive feedback
Collaborate with other music educators and staff to integrate percussion into broader arts programs
Maintain detailed lesson plans, progress records, and student portfolios to track development over time
Skills
Strong knowledge of percussion instruments, techniques, and repertoire
Experience in curriculum development for diverse learners including children, teens, and adults
Excellent teaching abilities with a focus on engaging students of varying ages and skill levels
Classroom management skills to create an organized, disciplined learning environment
Ability to work with children in early childhood education or preschool settings as well as adult learners
Familiarity with theater productions or performance preparation involving percussion instruments
Skills in lesson planning, behavior management, and childhood development principles
Additional talents such as photography, ballet, cooking, sewing or other arts are considered a plus for integrated arts programming
Experience working with students requiring special education or behavioral support is highly valued
