Description: Patterson Park Academy of Music (PPAM) is an after-school music academy with campuses in East and South Baltimore. Founded in September 2020, PPAM offers private music instruction for children and adults in piano, guitar, violin, cello, and drums, along with a robust Baby & Toddler education program. We are seeking a highly-qualified and dynamic piano instructor to begin in June 2026 and continue into the 2026-2027 Academic Year and beyond. Ideal candidates will be experienced in teaching elementary-aged students of various skill levels, be able to very quickly engage each student’s musical imagination and curiosity, and be available to teach between the hours of 4-8pm on at least two weekday afternoons during the summer and 2026-2027 academic year. Priority will be given to applicants who are available at least 8 weeks during Summer 2026 (June-August).
Compensation: $48/hour
Benefits: Yearly Student Retention Bonus; Compensation in the event of student absences; Consolidated schedules without gaps.
Duties:
- Teach weekly private piano lessons to a diverse population of students at one of our locations in Baltimore City
- Communicate with students and parents on the progress of each student with constructive feedback
- Prepare students for end-of-semester recital performances
Position Type: Part-*_time *_— estimated 4-8 hours per week, split between 2 weekdays. Instructors will be W-2 employees and required to provide W-2 and I-9 forms.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Piano Performance or Piano Pedagogy or equivalent high-level professional performance experience; Master's Degree preferred
- At least 2 years of professional teaching experience
- Firm commitment to a weekly lesson schedule with few absences/conflicts

Interview Process:
- Chosen candidates will have a virtual interview (Zoom, Skype, Facetime) with the directors
- Candidates advancing to the final round will be asked to present an in-person teaching demonstration to a beginning student

- Candidates with a robust performance schedule are encouraged to apply, however, preference will be given to candidates able to commit to a regular weekly lesson schedule with few absences throughout the semester.
