About us

Avant-Garde Music LLC specializes in providing High Quality Private in Home Music Lessons in the Northern Suburbs of Chicago, particularly Glenview, Northbrook, Willmette, Morton Grove, Skokie, Northfield, Deerfield and NorthShore. Our lesson programs are designed to meet each student’s unique goals, interests, and learning style. Striking a perfect balance between traditional and modern. All of our students learn how to read music as well as how to use the proper technique with their chosen instrument. We also value a fun and creative approach to music study and make sure to ask “what song do you want to learn?” Our lesson programs include exposure to a wide variety of musical styles, from pop, to rock, to classical, and everything in-between.

Position

Avant-Garde Music is currently seeking Music Instructors to teach Piano. Any additional instruments are a major plus. The ideal candidate will live near or reside in Glenview, IL. This position requires the teacher to have a vehicle, be able to navigate between lessons and teach in the homes of the students for their weekly lesson. Hours are in the afternoon-evening, 3:00pm-8:00pm and it is up to the teacher how many days, what days they are willing to work and what time slot they can work on each day. However, the teacher should at least be available 2 days a week. Teacher must be able to perform at least 2 lessons a day on the days chosen, preferable 4 or 5. There will be Bi-Annual Recitals in the summer and winter for students. Students are highly encouraged to participate.

Qualifications and Requirements

A Bachelor's degree in Music theory, Composition, Performance or related field.

Teacher should be proficient in:

Music notation readingEar trainingTheory understandingSong studyImprovisation and CompositionConfidence and Performance PreparationAudition PreparationMusic HistoryExposure to a broad range of musical genres
Note: Candidates without a degree will be considered if they can prove they have proficiency and experience in the field/instrument of which they wish to teach.

Teachers will need a vehicle that is insured, have a tax ID and pass a background check.

Compensation

This job is a part-time independent contractor job or 1099. Time is not paid that is not worked.

Payment rates for lesson are as follows.

30 minute lesson: $3545 minute lesson: $4860 minute lesson: $6575 minute lesson: $8190 minute lesson: $97105 minute lesson: $114120 minute lesson: $150
First lessons for all students are half off of Avant-Garde Music's Rate, not the teacher's, which goes fully to the Teacher.

Calendar and Policy

There will be no lessons and no pay the following holidays unless agreed upon between the student and teacher:

There will be no pay for the following missed lessons

Lessons cancelled by the teacherLessons cancelled by the student WITH A MINIMUM ONE-WEEK NOTICEStudent SICK DAYS, 4 per calendar year( Only if the teacher is given advance notice before leaving for that day's lessons.)
