Program Coordinator - Youth Music Project

Who we are: Youth Music Project (YMP) is a band of inspired, engaged and encouraging educators, musicians, administrators, board members and volunteers who believe that every student deserves access to exceptional music education, regardless of family income level. Position Summary Where to apply: https://www.youthmusicproject.org/careers The Program Coordinators work closely with the Program Director and are responsible for coordinating the organizations day-to-day on-site and off-site programs, partnerships, and activities. Provide input for disciplinary actions and annual reviews as necessary  In collaboration with the Instruments Coordinator, assist with the management of day-to-day transactions of the Instrument Rental program  Assist Program Director with substitute instructor scheduling processes; communicate to families about substitute music instructors  In collaboration with the entire Program Team, coordinate end-of-term Student Concert Weeks  Coordinate monthly Teen Open Mic nights held at Youth Music Project  Assist Program Director in planning, coordinating, and hosting Field Trips at YMP  Assist Program Director in planning and coordinating partnerships with other non-profit organizations, schools, and community groups  Co-advise Program Director on continuous improvement of processes  Assist at special events both at YMP and in the community  Support program outreach and communication efforts, periodically tabling at and participating in off-site community events  Co-advise Program Director on parent, student, and staff concerns  Communicate clearly with the Program Director issues, needs, and challenges, that arise within the program  Attend weekly 1:1, Program Team meetings, and Instructor Meetings  Lead team meetings of either Front Desk Staff or Intern Program  Complete purchase orders for the program and facility  Oversee mail collection, logging, and delivery  Coordinate and maintain proper opening and closing duties of the building  Coordinate Volunteers as necessary (1st week of term, open mics, etc.)  Other duties as required Education and Experience Qualifications you’ll need:  Passionate about music, music education, and youth development  Experience working with children and families  Background or strong familiarity with music and music education  Commitment to providing quality customer service and being culturally responsive to people from diverse backgrounds. Other knowledge, skills & abilities we’d like you to have:  Bilingual (read, write, speak) in English and Spanish  Bachelor’s Degree in music education, youth development, social service, or non-profit related field or equivalent combination of education and experience  Experience supervising a team of employees or volunteers  Demonstrates the tendency to contribute ideas and initiate new ways of working, shows enthusiasm for project work and special assignments.
