SeaWorld San Diego is seeking versatile performers to bring the joy of the season to life through song, storytelling, and live music during our Christmas Celebration. Happy Harbor Holiday – Sam the Letter Carrier • Bubbly, festive performer who can sing, dance, and engage children of all ages • All vocal ranges considered, preference for mezzo soprano • Prepare a 1-minute cut of “Mele Kalikimaka,” “Feliz Navidad,” or “Jingle Bells” • Bring accompaniment track on your phone or Bluetooth device (no accompanist provided) What you get to do: • Embody the childlike innocence, enthusiasm, and mannerisms of the characters • Enthusiastically represent the park by displaying a positive attitude, high level of energy, and commitment to quality throughout all aspects of the job • Perform as Costume Character, Dancer, Character Escort, and/or Puppeteer both in-park and out-of-park as assigned • Perform in stage shows, parades, meet-and-greets, and special events as assigned • Serve as an expert performer for multiple assigned characters, with the ability to perform all characters in your height range • Perform duties of an expert character escort, including facilitating interaction between character and guests, providing directions, and entertaining guests • May assist with character training and rehearsals • Accept and apply performance feedback • Execute pre- and post-show backstage duties as scheduled • Assist Costuming team with laundry and maintenance projects as needed • Ensure adherence to safety and procedural directions • Consistently execute stage direction and show content as directed by leadership • Maintain a positive and flexible attitude • Interact positively with guests, employees, and others • Perform other duties as assigned What it takes to succeed: • Height range of 4’11” to 6’2” with slender, athletic build • Outgoing, personable, and animated personality • Ability to accept and adapt to feedback • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions while performing in costume • Strong costume and escorting skills • At least 18 years old • High school diploma or equivalent required • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds • Availability for varying shifts, including opening/closing and after-hours rehearsals • Ability to move and dance in costume while maintaining character integrity • Willingness to participate in regular internal performance assessments • Preferred: previous performance, costume character, or guest service experience; training in dance, theater, or music • Ability to positively interact with diverse guests and coworkers • Strong verbal communication skills • Ability to stand, walk, and/or sit for long periods • Audition requirements may include dance, movement, script memorization, role playing, comedic improvisation, and miming What else is important: • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs • Extensive walking and standing throughout entire shift; climbing as needed • Ability to kneel, squat, bend, reach overhead, and perform fine hand tasks • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather, including extreme heat and cold, and exposure to dust, fumes, and odors • Ability to perform cleaning duties with chemicals • Flexible schedule required, including nights, weekends, and holidays • Must be able to work in varying park locations as needed • Must attend an in-person audition at a pre-determined time
