You have arranged music for horn sections and want to use this skill to engage students. *Responsive Teaching* This teacher will have the autonomy to choose and arrange songs for the students, and one aspect of your approach is connecting to their musical tastes and cultures. Of course, you also bring your musical background into lessons and help students expand their musical experience. *Commitment + Mindset* 2021-2022 will be the first year that UPC offers classes on band instruments, and the “start-up” nature of the program (as well as the complications of COVID) calls for commitment to students, communication with UPC staff, and the “chutzpah” to try something new. You will be a founding member of the music team at UPC, and we are looking for a teacher who is excited to shape a new band program for these high school musicians.
