Our client is seeking a highly creative and experienced Senior Music Director to lead artistic vision and musical direction for their entertainment productions in Minneapolis, Minnesota, US . This role requires a deep understanding of various musical genres, exceptional conducting skills, and the ability to inspire and manage musical ensembles. You will be responsible for selecting repertoire, arranging music, overseeing rehearsals, and ensuring the highest quality of musical performance across multiple projects. Your leadership will be crucial in shaping the auditory experience for our audiences.
Responsibilities: Conceptualize and develop musical direction for diverse entertainment projects, including live shows, recordings, and events. Select, arrange, and adapt musical scores to suit project requirements and artistic vision. Conduct rehearsals and performances, guiding musicians to achieve optimal artistic and technical quality. Recruit, audition, and manage a pool of talented musicians and vocalists. Collaborate closely with creative directors, choreographers, and technical teams to integrate music seamlessly into productions. Oversee the recording process, ensuring high-fidelity audio capture and mixing. Manage the music budget, including personnel costs, equipment rentals, and licensing fees. Maintain a comprehensive library of musical scores and recordings. Stay current with industry trends in music, entertainment, and technology. Mentor and develop junior musical staff and performers. Ensure all musical elements meet the highest standards of artistic excellence and audience engagement. Contribute to the overall creative strategy of the organization. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Music Performance, Composition, Conducting, or a related field; Master's degree preferred. Minimum of 8 years of experience in music direction, conducting, or composition within the entertainment industry. Demonstrated expertise in multiple musical genres and styles. Proficiency in music notation software (e.g., Finale, Sibelius) and digital audio workstations (DAWs). Strong conducting and ensemble leadership skills. Excellent understanding of music theory, harmony, and orchestration. Proven ability to manage creative teams and projects. Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills. Experience with live sound reinforcement and recording studio practices. A portfolio showcasing diverse musical direction work is highly desirable.
