Teaching Artist Greater New Orleans area

DescriptionTeaching Artist Kids' Orchestra provides music education, instruments, and performance opportunities to elementary, middle school, and high school students in South Louisiana. Teaching artists work with students, parents, site staff, and volunteers to deliver a safe, quality musical experience for students, and create enriching and inclusive educational opportunities at KO sites. Teaching artists for the Greater New Orleans area report to the Development Director. • Exhibit a genuine passion for community engagement, teaching, and young artist development • Prior experience working with children in a music environment • Exceptional verbal communication skills • Classroom experience (preferred) or a willingness to learn • Working towards, or completion of, a degree in music or music education (preferred) • Willingness to make accommodations for students of varying abilities, levels, or exceptionalities/special needs • Enthusiasm for the mission and vision of Kids' Orchestra • Previous experience working with children in a supervisory role • Basic computer skills necessary • Must have reliable transportation or a way to get around the city
