Appointment Type: 9-month, full-time, non-tenure-track appointment beginning Fall Semester, August 1, 2027

Responsibilities

* Studio Instruction: Teach applied violin at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and maintain a strong, active violin studio
* Chamber Music: Teach chamber music at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and coordinate undergraduate and graduate chamber music ensembles.
* Courses: Teach courses in string pedagogy and string literature, as assigned.
* Recruitment: Conduct active and ongoing recruitment activities to attract, build, and maintain a high-quality violin studio.
* Maintain/build a national profile as a pedagogue and performer.

### Qualifications

Required Qualifications

1. Degree: Master’s degree (minimum requirement).
2. Professional Profile: Demonstrate ability or commitment to maintaining a national presence as a performer.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Education: Doctorate or equivalent professional profile preferred
2. Teaching Experience: Demonstrated success in college-level violin teaching
3. Literature & Pedagogy: Extensive knowledge of string/violin literature and pedagogy methods, trends, and practices.
4. Repertoire: Strong understanding of diverse solo and chamber music repertoires.
5. Professional Skills: Excellent organizational and communication skills, with an interest in or experience with interdisciplinary collaboration and community outreach activities.

Candidates for the rank of Teaching Assistant Professor must meet the qualifications for being a Teaching Assistant Professor within UTK's faculty handbook and the NLH College of Music bylaws; among these qualifications include holding a doctorate in music by the time of appointment and showing promise for excellence in areas of responsibility assigned to them.

Candidates for the rank of Lecturer must meet the qualifications for being a Lecturer within UTK's faculty handbook and the NLH College of Music bylaws; among these qualifications include holding a degree appropriate to their discipline by the time of appointment and showing promise for excellence in areas of responsibility assigned to them
