The qualified candidate must exhibit a high level of commitment to the labor movement and the mission of Local 802, have significant experience negotiating contracts, as well as in organizing. Duties of the position are as follows: • Contract negotiations • Contract administration and enforcement • Explaining contract terms, concepts, benefits and obligations to members and potential members • Internal and external organizing, grievance handling and committee building • Field work • Organizing non-union employers • Organize and lead meetings • Working closely with department supervisors and officers to achieve the goals of the union and servicing the needs of the membership This is a full-time bargaining unit position, the employment terms of which are covered under an agreement with Local 802’s in-house union for its professional staff, the Organization of Union Representatives (O.U.R. Benefits include a defined pension benefit plan, 401(k), health insurance, sick leave, personal days and vacation days.
