Voice and Piano Instructor

Students have opportunities to perform in seasonal recitals at local venues, showcasing their progress across instruments including piano and voice.

Role Description The Voice and Piano Instructor is a part-time, on-site role based in Houston, TX. The instructor will provide individual and small group lessons in voice and piano, designing lesson plans that align with each student’s age, skill level, and musical goals. Daily responsibilities include teaching technique, music theory, ear training, sight reading, repertoire, and performance skills, while fostering a supportive and encouraging learning environment. The instructor will prepare students for recitals and assessments, track progress, and communicate regularly with students and caregivers about goals and achievements. Additional duties may include collaborating with other faculty members, maintaining studio organization, and contributing to academy events and performances.

Qualifications

Demonstrated proficiency in voice and piano performance and pedagogy, with the ability to teach healthy technique, repertoire, and musicianship.Experience designing individualized lesson plans that integrate music theory, ear training, sight reading, and performance preparation.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive, and age-appropriate learning environment.Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training in Music Performance, Music Education, or a related field; advanced study or professional performance experience is a plus.Prior teaching experience in a private studio or school setting, preferably working with diverse age groups and skill levels.Ability to collaborate with colleagues, support academy recitals and events, and maintain professional reliability with scheduling and attendance.Comfort working in an on-site studio environment and using basic technology for communication, and music resources.
