Laurel School of Music is seeking an enthusiastic, skilled, and student-centered Voice Teacher to join our faculty beginning August 2026. We are looking for an educator who is passionate about helping students of all ages discover and develop their musical potential while contributing to a collaborative and supportive teaching community.

Position OverviewThe Voice Teacher will provide high-quality music instruction to students ranging from late elementary school through retired adults. The ideal candidate is an engaging teacher and active musician who enjoys working with a diverse student population and is excited to contribute to the life of our school beyond private lessons.

This is an hourly position, with compensation starting at $41–$50 per hour, depending on education, experience, and the type of teaching assignment. Rates vary for private lessons, group classes, and partnership program instruction.

ResponsibilitiesTeach engaging and individualized private voice lessons to students of varying ages, abilities, and musical interests.

Teach healthy vocal technique while supporting students' artistic and personal goals.

Instruct students in a variety of musical styles, including classical, musical theatre, pop, folk, jazz, and contemporary music.

Prepare students for recitals, performances, auditions, and other musical opportunities as appropriate.

Maintain clear communication with students, families, and school staff.

Keep accurate attendance and lesson records.

Participate in faculty meetings, performances, and school events as requested.

Collaborate with fellow faculty members to foster a vibrant musical community.

Preferred QualificationsBachelor's degree (required preferred minimum), with a Master's or Doctorate in Music Performance, Music Education, or a related field strongly preferred.

Several years of experience teaching private voice lessons and performing professionally or semi-professionally.

Ability to teach students from late elementary age through older adults.

Comfort teaching a variety of musical genres.

Strong communication skills and a warm, encouraging teaching style.

Commitment to inclusive, student-centered instruction.
