Worship Musician - Bass Guitarist

Responsibilities

Perform bass guitar parts during rehearsals, services, concerts, and special events, ensuring precise timing and musicality
Collaborate with choir directors, organists, pianists, drummers, and other musicians to develop cohesive arrangements and harmonies
Read sheet music accurately and adapt to various musical styles including hymn music, liturgical pieces, and contemporary genres
Assist in selecting appropriate music pieces that align with the thematic elements of worship or performance programs
Contribute to musical improvisation and composition efforts to enhance live performances and recordings
Support acoustic treatment initiatives by adjusting sound equipment and stage setup for optimal audio quality
Harmonize melodies and blend different musical genres to create rich, engaging soundscapes that resonate with diverse audiences

Skills

Proficiency in playing the bass guitar with a solid understanding of various musical instruments and techniques
Strong knowledge of musical liturgy and religious music performance practices
Experience performing concert music across different settings and styles
Ability to read sheet music fluently and interpret complex arrangements accurately
Familiarity with digital audio workstation (DAW) software for recording or editing performances
Experience playing drums or supporting rhythmic foundations in ensemble settings is a plus
Skilled in musical improvisation, composition, and blending multiple music genres seamlessly
Knowledge of hymn music, organ playing, piano accompaniment, and theater experience enhances versatility
Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment while maintaining high performance standards
